Asus in conjunction with Disney Netpal will release the new Asus Netpal Eee Netbook in July 2009. This netbook is supposedly “fun, web safe, and easy to use,” as Gizmodo puts it.

In this ever rising wifi world there are now specific netbooks for kids and this Asus has some valuable built in features with regards to parental controls.

  • 8.9 Inch LCD display screen
  • Windows XP home
  • A lot of Disney themed gadgets and themes
  • Over 40 parental controls with regards to internet and e-mail.
  • MSRP $350

Not a bad netbook option for a kids first computer.  It is easily transportable, wifi capable, a great learning machine, simple to use, and has great parental features.

Here’s another netbook option.

Fujitsu recently released their addition to the ever growing netbook world. Here are some of the specifications:

  • 1GB of RAM
  • 160GB hard drive
  • 10.1 inch screen
  • Intel Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor
  • MSRP $449

Cnet review of the Fujitsu M2010 suggests that the screen is bright and great looking but overall the netbook itself is a little bulky and overpriced.  One of the setbacks is that the keyboard is not full size like the Toshiba NB205.

Check out the official review of the Fujitsu M2010.

This is a nice addition but may need some modifications to compete with the likes of Asus and Acer in the netbook world.

The upgraded version of the original Sony Vaio P.  It has a speedier Intel Atom z550 processor which pushes 2.o GHz. According to Netbookreviews.net there is a rumor of the Sony Vaio P will be released with WiMAX.  Be on the look out for that!

  • Intel Atom N280
  • 10.1 Inch backlit screen
  • 1GB of RAM
  • 160GB hard drive
  • 6 Cell- 9 hour battery life
  • Full size keyboard
  • MSRP: $399

The Toshiba NB205 comes with great expectations and has been getting some great reviews.  The battery life and the full size keyboard are some of the bonuses over other netbooks.

It has a very clean and appealing look to it.

A netbook is a small computer, a notebook, or a mini laptop.  It is something that is convenient, easy to use, and can easily be connected online.  They are meant to be simple and easy to transport.

Netbooks offer great features that keep getting better. They have anywhere from 8 inch to 11 inch screens and usually weigh less than 3 pounds.  They come in a varying array of hard drive sizes and amounts of RAM storage.  It is very easy these days to get a netbook with a 160GB hard drive and 2GB of RAM.  Many netbooks come with the new Intel Atom processors that are extremely mobile and use a little amount of energy.  Many also offer built in webcams and microphones in order to talk to others online with ease.

Most netbooks are priced in the $300-$500 range.  This makes them hot products for students and others looking for ease of portability without dropping alot of money.  Apart from cd-rom drives, netbooks now contain some of the same features as regular laptop in a much smaller package. There are many netbook options to choose from.  Some of the main and popular netbooks include:

  • Acer Aspire One
  • Asus eee PC 900
  • MSI Wind U100
  • Dell Inspirion Mini 9
  • HP 2133
  • Lenovo Ideapad S10

With a world that has 1.4 billion internet users and is becoming more and more wired, netbooks are something to think about and a wonderful option.
