It is claimed by Shanzai that sometime in October we will see the Google Chrome OS appear on a number of devices powered by China’s homegrown Loongson CPU.

The OS is not scheduled to be released worldwide until sometime in mid 2010.  However there are rumors of some netbooks that will be operating on the system in China as soon as October.

Netbooks will be the first target for the Google Chrome OS says Shanzai.  There are over Five Things Google Chrome OS will do for your netbook and it will provide a challenger to the new Windows 7 scheduled to be released in late October.

At Netbook Options we will keep an eye on the progressions.

From www.wired.com

From www.wired.com

Haleron has introduced their netbook option with a strange two atom processors.  The netbook has a sufficient amount of RAM, a decent size (could be bigger hard drive) hard drive and has made “room for two atom processor and no sense,” says Gizmodo.  With only a three cell battery the double CPU will eat the power up.

Here are some of the main features of the Swordfish Net 102

  • Two 1.6GHz Atom processors
  • 2GB RAM
  • 160GB hard drive
  • Dual Bluetooth
  • 3 Cell battery
  • Windows XP

As strange as it does sound, it will be released in the future and the price should be $450.  Not fully sure of the benefits of this netbook, but it should be fast?

AmazePC CyberBook N10: With No HDD, Ram, OS

From www.netbookitalia.it

From www.netbookitalia.it

The Italian made AmazePC has just proclaimed its CyberBook N10 netbook option.  It comes rather bare-bones and one has to install a number of items before it can be used such as a Hard drive, operating system, and memory.

Advantage: One is able to customize some of the specs directly off hand instead of upgrading later.  Also there is no operating system involved, so if one wants open source software and not Windows, there is no tax.

AmazePC CyberBook N10 specs:

  • 1.6GHz N270 Atom processor
  • 10.2 ” 1024*600 screen
  • Networking: LAN 10/100, WiFi 802,11 b/g, Bluetooth, 3G optional, GPS optional
  • 250mm x 195,6 millimetre x 25 millimetre

Comes in a variety of bright colors and is expected to cost 213 Euros.  Seems a little pricey to me considering all the expenses one will need to put into the netbook immediately.

From www.devicedaily.com

From www.devicedaily.com

Just announced is the Hercules EC-1000W eCafe netbook option.  With impressive specs this netbook is sure to compete with the likes of the HP Mini 311, Dell Mini 9, and the MSI Wind U100 netbook.

First of all let me break down the features on this impressive machine;

Hercules EC 1000W eCafe

  • 10.1″ Screen
  • Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz Processor
  • 1GB Ram
  • 250GB HDD Storage (Wow)
  • 50GB of online storage
  • 6-Cell 4400 mAh battery
  • 3x USB
  • Windows 7 OS

Separating itself from the average netbook these days with an impressive design and more importantly a massive hard drive which also comes with online storage.

Just as the name Hercules suggests, this should be a mighty contender in the netbook world.

As this netbook comes with Windows 7 it won’t actually be available till sometime in October, date not officially known.  Expected to cost around $400.
